A Presbyterian anti Israel spokesman now says that Jerusalem was never important to Jews, Israel or Judaism. Bizarre? Read on. The Israel-Palestine Mission Network of the Presbyterian Church USA is just getting weirder and weirder. While Jews can't take this group of self styled "peace activists" seriously, its getting harder to take a denomination, which has truck with these lunatics, seriously either. Given that 74 percent of Presbyterians want a strong diplomatic and military relationship with Israel, and that 76% want closer relations with Jews, how can the IPMN continue to have any standing? The IPMN has become a hate group.
I know lots of Presbyterians and like every one of them. The very worst thing I will say about the denomination is that I do wish they would pay more attention to what's happening on the national level. This very radical group has learned to manipulate the system. By the way, although the PC USA maintains that the IPMN is independent of the church, it is, in fact, very dependent on it. They use the denomination's 501(c)(3) tax exemption. Further, their book "Zionism Unsettled" is available only through the PC USA website. The IPMN seems constitutionally incapable of saying anything good about Zionism or Israel whatsoever. They appear more Manichean than Christian, suggesting that all evils in the Middle East derive from Zionism alone. Perhaps they will find solace knowing that the Iranian government and David Duke have endorsed their their resource guide "Zionism Unsettled."
