Marius the Giraffe and the Jewish Question
A report issued by the Palestinian Human Rights Commission reports widespread abuses by both the PA and Hamas.
The Gatestone Institute points out that the Western media will focus, instead, on Israel's shortcomings and pay scant attention to Palestinian human rights abuses.
Defenders of Israel will read into this that "everybody knows" that there is an anti Israel prejudice in the media. At the same time, anti Semites harp about the media being "controlled" by Jews - "as everybody knows."
Of course, "the media" is not one entity and there is no conspiracy, one way or the other.
So why is the news so slanted? Because Palestinian abuses really aren't "news." These abuses are business as usual. The press doesn't report that the grass grows or that the sun shines.
Thousands of giraffes are killed by predators in Africa. We never read about it. It isn't news. When Marius the Giraffe is killed by a Danish zoo, it is on the front pages. Why is that? Because it is man-bites-dog. Similarly, Palestinians abusing Palestinians is commonplace.
